According to a yearlong study just 42% of Americans without vision insurance had seen an eye care professional within the year.
Stephen Ingram, executive director of the National Association of Vision Care Plans, believes the findings suggest that “employers should not only offer a vision plan, but also educate employees on how to use them effectively.” Although consumers are generally taking a greater interest in their health care, he cautions that they do not understand how regular eye exams and vision care promote overall health and well being.
